Giving Love Network began long before it had a name.

At six years old, Caroline Dickinson started assembling and handing out what she called “Packages of Love” to individuals experiencing homelessness on the streets of Chicago. Each package included essential items such as food, toiletries, and clothing. She did not begin with a plan to start an organization. She simply saw people in need and wanted to help.

​

Over time, those small acts became a sustained commitment. Caroline continued assembling and distributing Packages of Love year after year, eventually providing more than 1,000 packages directly to individuals in need. Through those experiences, she came to understand both the immediacy of the need and the dignity of the people she met. She also began to see the broader network of small, frontline nonprofits working every day to serve their communities, often with limited resources.

At fifteen, Caroline founded Giving Love Network as a 501(c)(3) organization to expand that original effort into something that could reach further than one person alone.

​

She recognized that by raising funds, collecting essential items, and supporting small nonprofits directly, Giving Love Network could help strengthen the organizations already doing critical work on the ground. These nonprofits know their communities. They respond quickly and personally. They operate with care and accountability. Yet they are often overlooked and under-resourced.

Giving Love Network exists to support their work.

Today, Caroline continues to lead every aspect of the organization. She recruits fellow students to participate in collection efforts, organizes community initiatives, and personally selects the nonprofit partners Giving Love Network supports. She communicates directly with nonprofit directors to understand their needs and ensure that contributions are meaningful and aligned with their mission. She also speaks at events she organizes with partners and sponsors, helping others understand both the need and the responsibility to act.

What began as one child assembling Packages of Love has grown into a broader effort focused on strengthening the work of small nonprofits addressing food insecurity and homelessness. Caroline understood that by supporting these organizations, Giving Love Network could help reach more people and create greater, lasting impact.

Giving Love Network reflects a belief that leadership begins with showing up, continues through sustained commitment, and grows by empowering others to make a difference.

​

As Caroline prepares for the next chapter of her life, Giving Love Network will continue to grow with her. Its mission remains rooted in the same principle that inspired its beginning: that compassion, when acted upon consistently and with purpose, can create meaningful change.
